Merchandise Planning Director

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Merchandise Planning Director will act as the analytical backbone for strategic and day-to-day decisionmaking
about how to best grow the Roxanne Assoulin brand and business. Merchandise planning is in charge of
developing effective merchandise strategies for the company. Working with core partners in Design,
Merchandising, Wholesale, E-Commerce, Production and Finance, this role will shape the annual product
budgets to guide design / development and manage in-season sales performance in partnership with the Founder
/ CEO. This individual will build the infrastructure and processes required to conduct merchandise planning and
staff a team to manage each channel of business as the company grows. This role requires a passion for
delivering a positive experience for the consumer, leading his/her co-workers by example, and the ability to multitask
in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Set the annual merchandise financial plan (MFP) in alignment with company financial targets based on
past sales performance and future merchandising strategies
• Generate short and long term merchandising plan to meet company financial objectives
• Develop and manage additional pre-season sales plan components, e.g. line plan / assortment plan,
sales budgets, promotional calendar, etc.
• Create weekly sales budgets by channel (Wholesale / Account, E-Commerce and Retail)
• Liaise with Finance regarding sales performance v. financial targets and adjusting inventory open-to-buy
(OTB) based on in-season sales trends
• Set pricing, costing targets and suggest strategies for promotion and pricing based on current sales
trends in partnership with Founder / CEO
• Liaise with Merchandising and Sales partners to incorporate commercial opportunities into sales budgets,
e.g. consumer data / feedback, wholesale
• Update all relevant plans in-season based on in-season performance (sell-through, inventory availability,
shipping dates, etc.)
• Track the level of inventory compared to the number of sales, working to quickly turn around products
• Conduct pre-season and in-season reporting to share with Founder / CEO and management team
• In the future, develop and track lead-time / transit / in-warehouse pre-season to in-season
• In the future, conduct in-season allocations as Retail stores are opened

QUALIFICATIONS
• College degree required
• 4+ yrs experience in a Planning (Merchandising, Stores, Allocations, Supply Chain) or Planning-related
function
• Ability to think strategically and execute tactically in a high-energy and fast paced environment
• Desire to partner with Founder/CEO to identify growth opportunities pre-season and in-season for the
business
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Mastery of Excel required, proficiency in Powerpoint preferred
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
• Ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team
• Strong and positive work ethic
